Greensboro College Baseball Head Coach Ken Carlyle serves as the Proehlific Park Pitching Instructor.  A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Carlyle is the Rebels' all-time leader in pitching with 27 victories.

Carlyle was a professional baseball player with the Detroit Tiger and Atlanta Brave organizations from 1992 to 1999. He reached the Triple-A level and was a Double-A All-Star in 1994.  Carlyle was drafted in the ninth round by the Cincinnati Reds in 1991 and taken by the Tigers in the fourth round the following year. Carlyle was inducted into his high school's Hall of Fame in 2006.

Carlyle was hired as head baseball coach at Greensboro College in May of 2001.  Carlyle helped Greensboro to a 19-16 record--a nine game improvement from the previous season. His pitching staff reduced its earned run average by more than one run from the 2000 club. In 2002, under his direction, a sub-varsity/JV baseball team was established. In 2006, the Greensboro College Pride, under the direction of Carlyle, finished the year with a 27-16 record, tying the most wins in the program’s history.  The 2006 Pride defense was ranked 10th nationally with a .956 fielding percentage. In 2007, Carlyle had the 33rd ranked pitching staff in the nation. 

In Carlyle’s time at GC, he has coached one All-American, five all region, 20 All-USA South Conference and six NCCSIA All-State honorees. The Pride produced the conference rookie pitcher-of-the-year in 2003, the pitcher-of-the-year in 2004 and Greensboro's back-to-back players-of-the -year in 2005 and 2006. Additionally, GC baseball players have twice won the Fred Joseph Award and the Craven E. Williams scholar athlete honor two times since 2002.

Under Carlyle's guidance, the team's grade point average has risen nearly half a grade letter, and his players have earned five CoSIDA regional academic team selections.
