GREENSBORO, NC, - Aug. 24, 2007 – Progress is rapidly being made on the development of Proehlific Park, a youth sports complex slated to open February 2008. At the planned facility’s location, corner of Horse Pen Creek and Jessup Grove Roads, the site mapping is complete and a large retaining wall is currently being constructed. Construction on the Proehlific Park structure is expected to begin mid-September.
Ricky Proehl, former NFL wide receiver and owner of the facility, says the facility currently is enrolling charter members. Charter memberships are limited, and members with this designation will enjoy lifetime benefits including discounts at the park unique only to them.
“We have received a lot of interest from the community and expect our charter memberships to completely sell out,” said Proehl. “We anticipate limiting the total number of members in order to provide the best experience to everyone who joins.”
Proehlific Park will be a 60,000-square-foot sports complex with basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse and basketball courts, a 70-yard turf field and batting cages. An academic center, concession stands, picnic area and playground will also be available. It will be open seven days a week and offer after-school programs, as well as weekend and holiday activities. Proehlific Park will offer a fun, safe environment for children and parents will be assured their kids will supervised and protected.
The mission of Proehlific Park lies in its play on the word "prolific": to nourish and be fruitful. Proehlific Park, a youth sports complex, desires to create a safe, caring, disciplined and learning atmosphere for youth in the Triad area. This will be accomplished through the POWER of sport.
