 We
don’t need to tell you that times are tough. The hard fact is, nearly 17% of
families in Guilford County live below the poverty line. An astonishing 33%
fall below the average monthly budget for a family of four in North Carolina.
Here
at The P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation we’ve had an increase in the need for
services, and actually had to turn people away for the first time over the
summer months simply because we did not have it in our budget. This was after
we had adjusted our “giving percentage” by 20% so that we could help as many
families as possible.
So,
while we were able to help more families, we still had to turn kids away.
